Joe Dobbes, Winemaker

Joe Dobbes has been making wine in Oregon for about twenty years and his passion increases with each vintage.

Driven to excellence in his art, Joe Dobbes is the consummate winemaker. Raised in a small town in the north Willamette Valley and educated in Ashland, Joe is true Oregonian and is dedicated to Oregon wines. Yet his true calling began outside Oregon, in Germany and France, where Joe spent 2-½ years learning the art and science of winemaking. He apprenticed at Wiengut Erbhof Tesch, in the German Nahe region and at Domaine G. Roumier and Domaine Comtes Lafon in the Burgundy region, France, with winemasters Christophe Roumier and Dominque Lafon.

Stateside, Joe rooted his career as assistant winemaker at Elk Cove Vineyards (1987 - 1988) and as winemaker at Eola Hills Cellars (1989 - 1991). Joe’s entrepreneurial spirit blossomed when he revamped select Hinman Vineyard’s wines into the new Silvan Ridge Reserve label (1991 - 1995). Joe then became Willamette Valley Vineyard’s winemaker and vice president of production, and simultaneously winemaker for the Griffin Creek and Tualatin Estate labels (1996 - 2002).

Chris Noud is the creative director and founder of NowDesign, a small creative services firm located in Salem, Oregon. NowDesign serves a varied clientele with an emphasis on identity, brand development and packaging projects. With a strong focus on highly creative work, and impeccable execution, NowDesign has built a client roster that includes restaurants, wineries, government offices and local businesses. “With every project we strive to find the most effective solution for our clients — provided of course it breaks from tradition and whenever possible makes people snicker,” says Chris.

David is a web designer/developer with a penchant for the perfect combination of well-organized information presented within a functional and artistic design. In David’s mind, a web site is less a thing than an experience. David serves clients located in Alaska and Oregon from his home base in Portland’s Pearl District. Don’t expect much from his web site except contact information — he keeps telling us that he spends all his time working for his clients.
